536 meters, about 7 minutes from the museum door on the 8th block of Calle General Borgoño. The route runs General Borgoño → Tarapacá → Elías Aguirre → Víctor Larco Herrera → Arica → Avenida Angamos Oeste. Those 536 meters are to the entrance; the huaca's fence, at Elías Aguirre and Angamos, is two blocks from our door.

For 536 meters it rarely pays off: ordering the car and waiting for it takes longer than the walk itself. With luggage or kids, a taxi earns its place.

If Miraflores is new to you: the huaca is not out on the edge of the city or inside a sealed archaeological park. It is an adobe pyramid in the middle of residential streets, and our door is on those same streets. Miraflores is Lima's safest and most walkable district, so 536 meters barely registers as a walk.
Huaca Pucllana, fifteen centuries on
From the fence on Calle General Borgoño you are looking at a stepped pyramid of seven adobe and clay platforms: more than 500 meters long, 100 wide and 22 high. The Lima culture built it between roughly 200 and 700 AD as a ceremonial and administrative center, and residential Miraflores grew up around it.
What is remarkable is not the size but the method. Millions of small handmade adobe bricks stand on edge, separated by deliberate gaps, like books on a shelf. The technique is called librero, bookcase, in Spanish, and it is credited with keeping the building up: the gaps let the structure move with an earthquake instead of resisting it as one rigid mass. Fifteen centuries of Lima earthquakes later, the space between two bricks seems to have counted for as much as the bricks.
A plaza and its outer wall split the site in two. The ceremonial half has benches and ritual offering pits, some holding marine remains. The administrative half is small clay structures and adobe huts.
The site was later occupied by the Wari, a culture of roughly 500 to 1000 AD, who used the by-then abandoned pyramid as a cemetery and buried their dead in the older building; the Ychsma were here too. The site's best-known find is the tomb of the Señor de los Unkus, the first in the ceremonial center found completely intact: three burial bundles holding three adults, two of them masked, and a sacrificed child.
The site museum opened in 1984, and since 2005 the Municipalidad de Miraflores has administered the funds the site generates, delegated by the Ministry of Culture. Daytime visits are guided and cover the archaeological zone, a hall of original excavated objects and a park of native plants and animals. It closes on Tuesdays; on some days there are evening visits by prior reservation, and a restaurant on the grounds looks out over the lit ruins. Check current hours on the museum's official page.
The name is uncertain. It most likely comes from the Quechua wak'a, sacred place, and pukllana, play; it has also been attributed to a pre-Inca local chief.
The huaca is still standing because thousands of small pieces were set one at a time, each in its place.
Botox in Miraflores
Two blocks from the huaca's perimeter, about seven minutes on foot from the museum door. If you are already in the neighborhood, the reasonable question is why have this done here rather than at home.
The answer is not the product. Your Botox is administered by Dra. Geldres, a plastic surgeon. Before the first injection she asks you to frown, raise your eyebrows and squint: the muscle that draws your frown line does not sit in the same place, or pull as hard, in every face. The injection points and the dose per area come out of that examination. It is the part nobody sees, and the part that counts most.
The line to plan the trip around is the one about timing. You walk out of the clinic with the face you walked in with. On a one-week trip, the finished result is something you see at home, not in a photo from the Malecón.

A Day in Miraflores
Morning at the huaca. Daytime visits are guided: the circuit covers the archaeological zone, the hall of original excavated objects and the park of native plants and wildlife. Check current hours first, though. The site closes on Tuesdays, and evening visits run only some days, by prior reservation.
Afternoon at the clinic. Half an hour in the room, and you are back out into the day. The appointment is arranged at least a day ahead, so this is a plan you set up beforehand, not on your way out of the huaca.
Sunset on the Malecón. The cliffs above the Pacific, or Larcomar. Walking is exactly what you should be doing: stay upright for four hours afterwards, so the clifftop counts and the hotel bed does not. If the evening is free, there is a well-known restaurant on the site itself, overlooking the lit-up ruins.
The rest of the aftercare survives a tourist day. Do not rub or massage the treated area, not even drying your face. Leave hard exercise and extreme heat for tomorrow: no sauna, no steam room, no gym in the first 24 hours.
Come early in the trip: on day one or two, the first changes reach you while you are still here. If you are timing it for an event back home, count back two weeks. And if you fly out soon after, can you fly after Botox has the timing rules.
What Else Fits in the Same Afternoon
A Botox session takes about half an hour. If you have already walked over from the huaca, two other treatments fit into the same afternoon.
HydraFacial: S/400 (~US$114), 45 minutes. It cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates in one pass, with no downtime and no significant redness, so you can put makeup on as you leave.
Hyaluronic acid: S/950 (~US$271) per syringe. It does not relax muscle the way Botox does; it restores lost volume in the cheeks, the folds around the mouth or the lips, and the change in contour is visible by the end of the session. Mild swelling over the first few days is normal, and the final result shows once it settles.
What matters if you are passing through: both of those show the same day, and Botox does not. Its first changes appear at three to five days, the full result at seven to fourteen. Leave Lima before then and you will see it from home.
If what bothers you is sagging or the contour of the face rather than expression lines, Botox is not the answer, and it is worth saying so before you spend on something that will not fix your case. Not without writing first. We work by appointment only, so turning up at the door does not get you seen, even from two blocks away. Appointments are registered at least 24 hours ahead, so the same day usually is not possible. A next-day flight does not collide with the aftercare: the four hours upright are behind you, and what is left of the first 24 hours is not rubbing the area and skipping the hotel gym and the hot tub.
