Laser Tattoo Removal in Lima, Peru

Remove your tattoo safely and progressively with picosecond laser — the most advanced technology for clearing ink without damaging surrounding skin.

What is laser tattoo removal?

Picosecond laser tattoo removal is a non-invasive procedure that clears ink deposited in the skin using ultra-short pulses of light. Each pulse lasts trillionths of a second and releases focused energy on the pigment, fragmenting it into microscopic particles without damaging the surrounding skin.

Once fragmented, the ink is absorbed and cleared progressively by the body's lymphatic system in the weeks following each session. Unlike traditional nanosecond (Q-switched) lasers, picosecond laser generates a primarily photoacoustic rather than photothermal mechanism — meaning less residual heat, lower scarring risk, and better response on difficult colors like green, blue and yellow.

At Elyzea we use a picosecond laser with three wavelengths (532, 755 and 1064 nm) that can treat virtually any ink color and any skin phototype, including darker Latin skin.

Common reasons patients choose removal

  • ✓ Tattoo that no longer represents your current identity or life chapter
  • ✓ Name or symbol from a past relationship
  • ✓ Poorly executed, distorted or faded tattoo
  • ✓ Preparing skin for a cover-up (new tattoo over the existing one)
  • ✓ Removing eyebrow micropigmentation, lip tint or permanent eyeliner
  • ✓ Professional or presentation reasons
  • ✓ Tattoo causing allergy or chronic irritation

What determines the number of sessions

Ink colors: Black and dark pigments absorb laser energy best and clear faster. Greens, blues and yellows require more sessions because their absorption is more selective. The picosecond laser, with its three wavelengths, is currently the best technology available for treating the full color spectrum.

Density and depth: Professional tattoos have ink applied more densely and deeply, so they need more sessions than amateur work. Depth directly influences the energy needed to reach the entire pigment layer.

Age of the tattoo: Older tattoos usually respond better because part of the ink has already shifted or fragmented over time. Recent tattoos should wait at least 3–6 months before starting removal.

Body location: Areas with better circulation and closer to the heart (arms, chest, neck) respond faster because the lymphatic system clears fragmented pigment more efficiently there. Tattoos on feet, hands or low-circulation zones often need more sessions.

Skin phototype: Lighter skin responds faster. On darker skin — common in Latin patients — conservative parameters and more spacing between sessions are needed to avoid pigmentary changes. Picosecond laser is the safest option for phototypes IV–V.

Why choose Elyzea for your tattoo removal

Genuine picosecond technology: Many clinics use nanosecond (Q-switched) lasers and market them as "picosecond". At Elyzea we have a true picosecond device with three wavelengths — a substantial difference in removal speed and safety.

Medical director on every case: Every treatment is evaluated and supervised by Dra. Geldres, board-certified plastic surgeon. Protocol adjusts to your tattoo type, skin phototype, and how your body responds between sessions.

Safe protocols for Latin skin: Darker skin has higher risk of post-inflammatory pigment changes with poorly calibrated lasers. We use conservative, progressive parameters designed for phototypes IV–V.

Free consultation: A no-cost in-person evaluation where we review your tattoo, estimate sessions, and provide a transparent quote. Virtual consultation available for out-of-Lima patients, including those traveling from the US.

Frequently Asked Questions

Session count varies by tattoo size, colors, ink density, age and depth. On average 5 to 10 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. Amateur black-ink tattoos need fewer sessions than professional multi-color ones. Your free consultation includes a precise estimate for your case.

The sensation is similar to small rubber bands snapping against the skin or hot oil drops. Most patients describe it as tolerable without anesthesia. For sensitive areas or large tattoos we apply topical anesthetic or use cooling systems. Each session only takes a few minutes depending on tattoo size.

Yes. The picosecond laser with three wavelengths (532, 755 and 1064 nm) can treat the vast majority of tattoo colors, including difficult inks like blue, green, yellow and orange that other lasers cannot effectively fragment. Black and dark colors respond faster; light colors may need additional sessions.

With picosecond laser the risk of scarring is very low because it does not burn or damage surrounding skin — it only fragments the pigment. If the original tattoo caused scarring during application, that texture may remain visible once the ink is cleared. Following post-session instructions is key for optimal recovery.

Price depends on tattoo size and the number of sessions required. At Elyzea sessions start from around USD $30 for small tattoos — a fraction of US prices (typically $200–500 per session). We offer package pricing for complete treatments and a free consultation with a detailed, no-obligation quote.

Yes. The picosecond laser allows selective, precise work so we can remove only specific areas of a tattoo without affecting the parts you want to keep. This is useful for correcting errors, removing names, or preparing skin for a cover-up.

Yes. The picosecond laser also removes eyebrow micropigmentation, microblading, permanent eye and lip liner. These cosmetic pigments usually respond faster than body tattoos, typically requiring 2 to 4 sessions.
