HIFU Results
Real before-and-after cases from Elyzea Miraflores, Lima
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) stimulates the natural production of collagen in the deep layers of the skin, including the SMAS layer. The result is a progressive lifting effect that consolidates between 2 and 3 months. Each case shown here is a real Elyzea patient, treated by Dra. Geldres with patient consent.
Non-surgical facelift
Perioral lifting and contour
Result after HIFU
Smoothing of marionette lines and redefinition of the lower face contour.
Jawline and chin definition
Result after HIFU
Tightening of the facial oval and reduction of vertical creases on the chin.
Neck tightening and double-chin reduction
Result after HIFU
Sharper jawline and visible reduction of the submental area.
Mid and lower-face rejuvenation
Result after HIFU
Jowl and marionette-line reduction. Visibly firmer and more rejuvenated skin.
Results are individual and depend on skin laxity, age, skin quality, and biological response. The HIFU effect is progressive and reaches peak expression between 2 and 3 months after the session. Photographs taken by the Elyzea team with patient consent.
How HIFU builds the results above
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) delivers focused acoustic energy that converges at precise depths — typically 1.5 mm, 3.0 mm, and 4.5 mm beneath the skin's surface. At each focal point the tissue reaches around 60–70 °C, creating microscopic thermal coagulation points without injuring the overlying epidermis.
The deepest focus reaches the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) — the same fibrous layer surgeons reposition during a facelift. This dual-depth approach is what differentiates HIFU from radiofrequency or laser tightening: it works the structural support layer, not just the dermis. Over the following 8 to 12 weeks, fibroblasts respond by producing new collagen and reorganizing the SMAS scaffold, producing the progressive lifting effect visible in the cases above.
At Elyzea, Dra. Geldres maps the treatment zones individually and selects depth per region — typically 4.5 mm shots for jawline and submental lift, 3.0 mm for cheeks and midface, and 1.5 mm for fine perioral lines. Energy levels are adjusted based on skin thickness and laxity rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol.
HIFU session timeline
Session day (Day 0)
A 45 to 75 minute treatment with light topical anesthesia. Patients describe brief warmth and pulsing during shot placement. Mild redness lasts 1–2 hours; you can leave the clinic with makeup on.
Weeks 1–2
Slight tenderness at deep-focus points is common. The first subtle tightening sensation appears around the jawline and submental area as inflammation begins to drive fibroblast activation.
Months 2–3 (peak result)
New collagen and SMAS reorganization reach maturity. This is the window the photographs on this page reflect: visibly firmer skin, sharper jawline, smoother marionette and perioral lines, and submental contour redefinition.
Months 12–18 (maintenance)
Results last 12 to 18 months on average. Most patients return for a touch-up annually to sustain the lifting and firmness benefits as natural aging continues.
HIFU results — frequently asked
How many sessions are typically needed?
Most patients need a single full HIFU session per area, with an optional touch-up at 6 to 9 months for marked laxity. Dra. Geldres confirms the personalized plan during your free consultation based on your degree of skin laxity, age, and aesthetic goal.
When do results become visible?
Subtle tightening can be felt within 2 weeks. The lifting effect develops progressively as new collagen forms, with peak results visible between 2 and 3 months after the session — the window the photographs on this page reflect.
How long do results last?
Results typically last 12 to 18 months. Natural aging continues so annual maintenance is recommended to preserve the lifting and firmness benefits.
Is HIFU safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. HIFU uses focused ultrasound — not light — so it bypasses melanin entirely. It is safe across the full Fitzpatrick scale, including Fitzpatrick IV–VI skin tones common in Latin American and Andean patients.
What downtime should I plan for?
There is essentially no downtime. Mild redness or warmth can occur for a few hours; some patients feel slight tenderness for 1 to 2 weeks at deeper-focus points. Makeup can be applied immediately and normal activities resumed the same day.
